Dear Families,

Next week, December 5-10, Cove Elementary will be involved in an event called "The Hour of Code".  Students and teachers will be joining more than 100 million students across the globe in an event to celebrate Computer Science Education Week.  

We believe that no matter what path our children choose for future professions, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on the understanding of how technology works. Learning code is the basis for understanding how technology works and communicates with humans, makes robots move, or changes the traffic lights on the streets.  Coding applications are everywhere!

To make this event a success, we need help from you - our families!  Get involved, and help our students work through their hour of coding sessions!  No experience is necessary, we are asking volunteers to assist children with questions that arise while they are learning about coding.

Science Fair Friday, 11/18!

          

Cove Elementary School 4^th Annual Science Fair Schedule

7:30 - 8:15 am	Student exhibit set up.  Parents can come in to help their child set-up.
8:15 am	Students will go back to their classroom for morning meeting.
8:45 - 11:00 am	Students will sit with their project and K-5 classes will view the projects.
11:30 am	Judges arrive to view assigned projects.
12:00 - 1:30 pm	Judging will take place.  Students will go back to their classroom after judging.
6:00 pm	Public viewing of projects.
6:45 pm	Awards ceremony and celebration.

Screenagers Showing

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 18 at 7pm, when the movie Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age will be shown at Briscoe Middle School. This documentary reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Admission is free. This event is being brought to you through the collaborative efforts of the Briscoe PTO, the BHS PTSO and the Citywide PTO. The movie is intended for parents of Beverly students in grades 5-9 and for students at parents' discretion.
